This year, NABA-AZ partnered three non-profits centers to serve the Native community throughout the state. Our partners were: 1) Native Health in the Phoenix metropolitan area, 2) the Tucson Indian Center, and 3) Native Americans for Community Action in Flagstaff.

Implementation of Tribal Violence Against Women Act, Non-Indian Jurisdiction, Lawyers in Arizona working for Arizona tribes are on the front lines of protecting families and tribal communities. The panel shared the history of this recent legislation and challenges to implementation. Despite challenges, Pascua Yaqui has been able to begin protecting their tribal community with the new enforcement availability.
The Panel also discussed recent cases involving VAWA for tribes.
